Lands’ End Tys One On With Secret Santa
It’s not going to be much of a surprise since they’ve issue a press release about it, but Lands’ End said today that the cover its latest holiday catalog includes an unexpected surprise: a famous celebrity dressed as Santa.
Who is the not-so-secret Santa? Ty Pennington.
Who’s Ty Pennington? You know—that high-energy host of TV show “Extreme Makeover.”
Lands’ End says Pennington is a natural choice for this honor for his work with parent company Sears’ Heroes at Home project. (The program help make wishes come true for military families.)
This is the second time that Pennington has crossed my work radar this fall. He was a keynote at the DMA Annual conference in Las Vegas last month. I would have covered it, but I was busy gambling. No, I had a corporate event that conflicted with his speech. (I did!)
I even went to part of the keynote for a look, but they hadn’t brought him out by the time I had to leave. I forgot all about it until the Lands’ End catalog. Now I’m curious: If you happened to see Pennington’s Oct. 13 session at DMA, let me know how it was.

I didn’t catch it either, as I was at the same corporate event. (Really! I was!). But I’m curious too. The one secondhand report I heard was decidedly less than favorable.
Anyone know what Ty had to tell DMers? How was his presentation?
