QCI Direct “Can” Make a Difference
Giving back to the community means something for cleaning supplies and home improvement products merchant QCI Direct, which mails the Home Trends, Sleep Solutions and Picket Fence catalogs.
QCI Direct, which is based in Rochester, NY, recently competed in something known as Canstruction, a national event held in various cities where teams design and build structures with thousands of food cans. The event spotlights hunger while showcasing the creativity of local design teams. Cans that comprise the structures are donated to charity.
And QCI Direct walked off with the “Best Meal” award for its 10-foot turkey made out of more than 2,000 food cans.
“Giving back to the community is important,” says QCI Direct president Jane Glazer. “Building a 10-foot turkey and then donating the ingredients was a big morale booster for my staff. In these lean times, coming together and working as a team matters.”
QCI Direct, which will mail about 45 million catalogs this year, was honored on Nov. 13 for its structure titled, “We CAN gobble up Hunger.” The company’s cans were donated to Foodlink, Rochester.
