The New Marketing Positioning of Stoli

Stoli It was the first imported vodka into the US market in 1946 and still has a decent market share and presence. They were also the first to add a flavored vodka to the market. However, the folks at Stoli have seen a dip in US sales and decided to once again take the lead as an innovator in their respective liquor category. This time with a new, integrated marketing campaign.


Their new marketing is aimed at the 24-to-35-year-old vodka connoisseur. So how are they reaching these folks? more

Mail-in Rebate? No Thanks.

I’ve written fairly often about rebates. Mostly about the problems they have caused both marketers and consumers.


As a consumer, I can understand the frustration people experience. Buying a product promoted with a mail-in rebate means shelling out more dollars upfront, filling out sometimes complicated and lengthy forms, keeping track of receipts and product codes, mailing all the forms and then waiting and watching for the check to come. The process can further frustrate consumers if the form wasn’t filled out correctly or the proper receipt wasn’t attached.

Why Marketers Should Care about a Google Phone

12-16-09-google-phone-art-blog.jpgSuppose someone came to you in December 2006 and advised you to start thinking about a mobile brand strategy, and fast. The reason: a computer company was about to unveil something that would take marketing over wireless devices to a whole different level.

Come on, be honest. Chances are good you’d have nodded, maybe added mobile to your list of things to look into when you had time, and then forgotten all about it until Steve Jobs got up and introduced the world to the iPhone. And the brands that already had cellphone strategies in place—or at least on the drawing board—got to steal a few giant steps on those that didn’t.

Well, you just may have a second chance at being an early entrant, thanks to another company not known for phones. more
