Here we go again. I really like Social Media and have seen it work, but it looks like Twitter is going the way of email and other social media by allowing folks who Tweet to get paid for their efforts.
I guess I am old school, as I admit I have an ethical dilemma with this approach. It makes word of mouth marketing, well, less credible. And without credibility, your messaging suffers and your sales will too.
I can see the faux-homeless person at the side of the highway, sitting down with a laptop. Instead of “Will work for food,” the sign now reads “I Tweet for a living.”
I already get way too many spam-Tweets as is, but this will only make things worse.

If the Internet had been around in 1974, Ronnie Lane might not have died broke.
Ronnie Lane was the bassist for ‘60s pop group the Small Faces and ‘70s rock band the Faces. He quit in 1973 to go solo and scored one top-10 hit in his native UK with “How Come.” But then as now, one hit does not a profitable career make. Fortunately his second (far superior) single, “The Poacher,” was about to break into the top 10 as well.
It’s always weird to get an e-mail saying “You have received an e-greeting…” I immediately delete them, assuming they’re spam, and then I wonder if someone really sent me an e-mail card and will now think me rude for not acknowledging it.
I got one this morning and was about to hit delete, but then I started thinking maybe someone sent me an Easter card. What to do? more
