E-mails We Don’t Love: Personalization Failures

“Recommendations for you” read the subject line of a recent e-mail from Tilly’s, a purveyor of surf/street fashion for men and women. Although I did sign up to receive e-mails from Tilly’s, I’ve yet to make a purchase. In fact, my only interaction with the brand was to enter its Make Music with Matt Costa contest. So I was curious as to how it would have determined what sort of products to recommend for me.
