How to Spend a Summer in Vancouver

Published

on

Vancouver is one of the most intense cities in Canada.  Packed to the brim with some of the most incredible people and experiences you could ever go through, this city has something for everyone.  If you find yourself in the city lovingly called Hollywood North, because of constant celebrity sightings, here are some ways to fill your summer days with fun.

Go To Incredible Festivals

Vancouver has over 20 festivals every summer.  They range from music to pride parades, to anything else you could want.  Get to know the local cultures and vibrant people, and immerse yourself in the fun that festivals have.

Go Kayaking

A kayaking trip can be a breath of fresh air if you’d instead want to get away from the hustle and constant motion of the city.  In Burnaby, Deer Lake is one of the top spots to enjoy kayaking because of the gorgeous views and beautiful water.  It’s easy to get hooked once you start, which prompts many people to search for real estate in Vancouver.

Get Tipsy On Brewer’s Row

A big part of any summer vacation is getting to cut loose with a beer and have some fun.  The top place to have a bar crawl is on Brewer’s Row.  Boasting more bars than any person can make through in one night, they offer the chance at a legendary night you’ll want to talk about for years.

Hiking

Fresh air, and gorgeous trails, are what make hiking such an exciting thing in Vancouver.  There are endless paths you can take, from forest hikes to ocean views.  Each walk is entirely different and offers a way to appreciate the natural beauty of the area.  If walking isn’t your thing yet, there are also endless bike trails to let you connect similarly.

The Vancouver Water Fight

The most significant water fight in Vancouver happens every summer and invites people to cut loose and have messy fun.  Hosted by Vancouver Improv Anywhere, Vancouver Waterfight, and Vancouver Flash Mob, a water fight is a three-hour event where anyone can bring a water gun or water balloon and expect to get hit back!  It’s a big fun event fit for any age.

Enjoy The Celebration Of Light

This festival, the most significant offshore firework competition on Earth, has competitors from all over the world come to show off their craft.  Every firework is unique and expertly made, and will get your heart racing in excitement.  This event is in late July or early August, depending on the year, so if you want to attend, make sure that your summer runs a little later than most!

Be Awestruck By Whales

April through October, whales make a big splash around Vancouver.  Tourists flock from all over to see these incredible giants and gentle creatures up close and personal.  There’s nothing more humbling than being on a boat next to the most massive creatures on Earth.

You could get lost in the possibilities that Vancouver offers every single visitor.  Enjoy the mild temperatures, and spend time trying things that you’d never try at home.
